Mentorship Programme

A mentorship Programme was introduced for the students of the Faculty of  Law with the intention of improving the quality of talent at the faculty.  Members of the judiciary, President’s Counsel and Senior Counsel, corporate leaders, CXOs., members of the diplomatic community were among the 80 alumni who kindly volunteered their time to engage with the Alumni Association to mentor the law students.

Accordingly 80 mentorships were granted under the six (6) month mentorship programme that commenced on 1 October 2022.  The Association conducted an online introduction to the programme for all mentees to prepare them to fully garner the benefits of the programme.  This included document templates to guide the process.  A meeting with the mentees will be held once again at the end of November to understand how the process is working and to take corrective steps, if needed.

The mentorship programme will help the mentees grow by gaining knowledge from the mentor’s expertise, experience and competencies.  The mentor can identify areas that need reshaping or grooming so that the mentee can develop in this process, and it can also help with career guidance, motivation, developing one’s leadership skills and building self-confidence.
